Jewelry care
Almost all of my jewelry is inked with a black Sharpie. It is easily re-inked and cleaning is also easy,
Everyday wear - Aluminum, Brass and Copper Cuffs
Your items will naturally tarnish over time. If they get wet, the black ink may eventually fade, but it can easily be restored.
Simply color over the stamped area with a black Sharpie, then immediately wipe away the excess ink with a small piece of newspaper. You can clean the surface further using a piece of 0000 steel wool.
You may also use a silver polishing cloth. Just be aware that the black Sharpie ink will permanently darken the polishing cloth.
If you like the tarnished look, my suggestion is to just use the newspaper to remove excess right after you color the item. The ink dries fast but can be buffed off with the newspaper.
Cleaning silver
Your item may tarnish over time, and the ink may eventually fade, but it can easily be refreshed with a black Sharpie.
Simply color over the stamped area, then immediately wipe away the excess ink with a piece of newspaper. You can then use a silver polishing cloth to brighten the metal.
Keep in mind that some of the excess ink may permanently darken the polishing cloth. If you use steel wool, the metal will lose some of its sheen and develop more of a matte finish.
Storage
Aluminum, brass, and copper items do not require any special storage. They will naturally darken over time, and this can happen more quickly in humid climates.
Sterling silver is best stored in a sealed bag, since exposure to air can cause oxidation and tarnishing. If you have an anti-tarnish tab or strip, place it in the bag with your sterling silver jewelry to help slow the tarnishing process.
Repairs
This is not necessarily a repair, but cuffs can become misshapen over time. You can gently reshape them with your fingers to fit comfortably around your wrist. When adjusting a cuff, apply pressure at the ends as well as the center so you do not place too much stress on the weakest area, which is generally the middle.
If an ear wire or jump ring becomes loose or opens slightly, you can gently close it with a pair of needle-nose pliers.
